Welcome to our website! Before proceeding, it is important to read our terms and conditions. These guidelines describe the rules and expectations for using our services. By continuing, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please review them carefully to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

1. GENERAL PROVISIONS

1.1. This Rental Agreement ("Agreement") is between Auro Ice Car Rental, company code 147911 ("Lessor") and the person/entity renting the vehicle ("Lessee").

1.2. By accepting these terms and confirming with a signature, both parties agree to strictly adhere to all provisions contained herein.

2. VEHICLE RENTAL REQUIREMENTS

2.1. Driver Eligibility:

  • Minimum age: 21 years
  • Minimum driver's license validity: 12 months
  • Valid driver's license and identification document required
  • Young driver fee may apply for drivers under 21 years (subject to Lessor's approval)
 

2.2. Required Documentation:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Government-issued photo ID or passport
  • Valid credit or debit card
  • Flight number (if applicable)

3. RENTAL PERIOD AND CHARGES

3.1. Rental Period:

  • Minimum rental period: 24 hours
  • Shorter rentals possible but charged at 24-hour rate
  • Extensions subject to Lessor's approval
 

3.2. Operating Hours:

  • Office hours: 08:00-18:00 daily
  • Customer service: 24/7 for emergencies and assistance
  • Pick-up/drop-off outside office hours by prior arrangement only
 

3.3. Delivery and Collection Services:

  • Cruise Terminal delivery/collection: €20
  • Reykjavik hotel delivery/collection: €40 (within city limits only)
  • Additional locations subject to availability and extra charges
  • All delivery services must be pre-arranged
 

3.4. Vehicle Handover and Return Procedure:

  • Upon vehicle handover, a Lessor representative and the Lessee will conduct a visual inspection of the vehicle
  • Fuel level will be checked and recorded on the handover form
  • Any existing damage will be documented on the damage inspection form
  • Both parties must sign the handover form to confirm the vehicle's condition
  • Upon return, a similar inspection will be conducted to check for any new damage
  • Fuel level will be verified and recorded
  • Any new damage will be documented and may result in additional charges
  • Both parties must sign the return form confirming the condition of the vehicle
  • The Lessee is responsible for all undocumented damage discovered after the Lessee has left, if it could not have been reasonably noticed during the return inspection

4. INSURANCE AND LIABILITY

4.1. Standard Insurance Coverage (included in base rate):

  • Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
  • Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
  • Super Accident Damage Waiver (SADW)
  • Third-party liability insurance
  • Maximum excess (deductible) amount: €3,500
 

4.2. Optional Insurance:

  • Full Damage Cost Refundable (ZERO Package)
    • Includes Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW)
    • Reduces excess (deductible) to €0
    • Subject to terms and conditions
  • Specific exclusions apply as detailed in Section 4.3
 

4.3. Insurance Exclusions:

  • Damage from off-road driving
  • Damage from river crossing
  • Intentional damage or gross negligence
  • Driving under influence
  • Unauthorized driver damage
  • Violation of Icelandic traffic laws
  • Other exclusions as specified in the insurance policy

5. LESSEE OBLIGATIONS

5.1. Vehicle Return:

  • Full fuel tank unless prepaid fuel option selected
  • Clean condition (additional cleaning fee may apply)
  • All original documents and accessories
  • At specified location and time
 

5.2. Traffic Violations and Fines:

  • Lessee responsible for all traffic violations
  • Administrative fee of €20-40 for processing fines
  • Automatic charge to provided payment card
  • Includes parking fees, tunnel fees, and other charges
  • By signing this Agreement, the Lessee explicitly authorizes the Lessor to charge the provided payment card for any fines, penalties, or charges received after the rental period that are related to the period of the Lessee's rental
  • The Lessor will notify the Lessee of any such charges before processing the payment
 

5.3. Prohibited Use:

  • Off-road driving
  • River crossing
  • Commercial transport without authorization
  • Smoking in vehicle (cleaning fee applies)
  • Outside Iceland
  • Sports or racing events
  • Sub-renting or lending

6. PAYMENTS AND FEES

6.1. Payment Terms:

  • Full payment required before vehicle delivery
  • Valid credit/debit card required
  • Cash payments accepted under following conditions:
    • Valid credit card must still be provided as security
    • Additional security deposit may be required (€300-500)
    • Refund of deposit only after vehicle inspection
  • Additional charges may apply
 

6.2. Additional Fees:

  • Young driver fee (when applicable)
  • Extra driver: €6 per rental
  • Child seat: €8
  • Infant seat: €8
  • WiFi: €10 per day
  • Cleaning fee if required
  • Late return fees

7. BREAKDOWN AND ACCIDENTS

7.1. In Case of Accident:

  • Immediate notification to Lessor required
  • Police report required for all accidents
  • Document all damage with photos
  • Complete accident report form
 

7.2. Roadside Assistance:

  • 24/7 support available
  • Additional charges may apply for user error

8. CANCELLATION AND MODIFICATIONS

8.1. Cancellation Policy:

  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup
  • No refund for no-shows or same-day cancellations
  • Modifications subject to availability

9. DATA PROTECTION

9.1. Personal Information:

  • Collected and processed according to GDPR
  • Used only for rental purposes and legal requirements
  • May be shared with authorities for traffic violations

10. GOVERNING LAW

10.1. This Agreement is governed by the laws of Iceland.

10.2. Any disputes shall be resolved in Icelandic courts.
