Is There Uber in Iceland? (What You Actually Need to Know)

You land at Keflavik Airport, grab your bags, open Uber — and nothing. No drivers nearby. No little cars moving around the map. Just a blank screen.
It's not your phone. Uber doesn't exist in Iceland. Never has. And there's no sign that's changing anytime soon.
The good news is that getting around isn't actually a problem — you just need to know what works here before you arrive.

Affiliate Program Terms & Conditions

AFFILIATE AGREEMENT WITH AURO ICE CAR RENTAL

By applying to become an affiliate partner of Auro ICE Car Rental, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

I. NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE AGREEMENT

Auro ICE Car Rental ehf. ("the Company") provides car rental services in Iceland and operates an online booking platform via www.auroicecarrental.com. The Company wishes to partner with qualified affiliates ("Affiliate Partners") who will promote, market, and recommend the Company's services to their audience.

By accepting this Agreement, the Affiliate Partner agrees to promote the Company's services using the provided referral link and materials. The Company will provide tracking capabilities, process all bookings, and handle all customer service matters.

This Agreement is non-exclusive. Both parties acknowledge that the Affiliate Partner may promote other car rental services, and the Company may work with other affiliates.

The Company reserves the right to deactivate affiliate links that generate no bookings or conversions for twelve (12) consecutive months. This helps us manage program resources effectively.

II. COMMISSION STRUCTURE AND PAYMENT

The Company agrees to pay the Affiliate Partner commission on completed car rentals referred through the Affiliate Partner's unique tracking link:

Commission Rates:
- Content Creators & Bloggers: 5% of vehicle price
- Tourism Agencies: 10% of vehicle price
- Hotels & Strategic Partners: 10-15% of vehicle price (negotiable)

Commission Calculation:
Commission is calculated on the vehicle rental price only. It excludes:
- Insurance packages (CDW, SCDW, PAI, etc.)
- Extra equipment (GPS, child seats, WiFi, etc.)
- Delivery/collection fees
- Airport surcharges
- Any other separately itemized charges

Commission is paid only on completed rentals. The following are NOT eligible:
- Cancelled bookings
- No-show reservations
- Unpaid rentals
- Bookings modified to zero value

Payment Process:
1. By the 5th of each month, Company sends Affiliate Partner detailed commission report
2. Affiliate Partner issues invoice for "Marketing & Customer Acquisition Services"
3. Company processes payment within 30 days via bank transfer
4. Minimum payout threshold: €50 EUR (amounts below carry forward to next month)

The Affiliate Partner must provide:
- Legal company/personal name
- Tax identification number (if applicable)
- Bank account details (IBAN/SWIFT)
- Billing address
- Valid email contact

III. TRACKING AND ATTRIBUTION

Cookie Period:
The Company uses a 30-day cookie tracking period. When a visitor clicks the Affiliate Partner's referral link, a cookie is stored for 30 days. Any booking completed within this period is attributed to the Affiliate Partner.

Attribution Model:
First-click attribution applies. The first affiliate link clicked receives credit for the booking, even if the customer later visits through other channels.

Referral Link Format:
Each Affiliate Partner receives a unique tracking code:
https://www.auroicecarrental.com/?ref=[PARTNER_CODE]

This link must be used in all promotional activities. Bookings not made through
this link cannot be attributed to the Affiliate Partner.

Tracking Reports:
Company provides monthly Excel reports by the 5th of each month containing:
- All clicks on affiliate link
- All attributed bookings with booking ID, date, customer name (optional), amount
- Commission earned per booking
- Total commission for the period

IV. AFFILIATE PARTNER OBLIGATIONS

Marketing Standards:
The Affiliate Partner agrees to:
- Promote the Company's services accurately and professionally
- Not make false or misleading claims about vehicles, pricing, or services
- Disclose to their audience that they earn commission on referrals (transparency required)
- Comply with all applicable advertising and data protection laws

Prohibited Activities:
The Affiliate Partner may NOT:
- Purchase or bid on "Auro ICE Car Rental" or exact brand keywords in Google Ads,
Bing Ads, or other paid search platforms
- Use the Company's brand name in domain names or social media handles that could cause confusion
- Generate fraudulent clicks or bookings
- Use spam, unsolicited email, or unethical marketing tactics
- Imply official partnership or endorsement beyond the scope of this Agreement
- Create fake reviews or testimonials

If the Affiliate Partner violates these prohibitions, the Company may terminate
the Agreement immediately and withhold any unpaid commissions.

Brand Usage:
The Affiliate Partner receives a limited license to use the Company's name, logo,
and promotional materials solely for the purpose of promoting car rental services
per this Agreement. All intellectual property rights remain with the Company.

The Affiliate Partner must:
- Use only official logos and materials provided by the Company
- Not alter or modify Company logos or branding
- Remove all Company branding immediately upon termination of Agreement

V. DISCOUNT CODES

The Company may provide the Affiliate Partner with custom discount codes for their
audience (typically 5-15% off rental price).

Important Terms:
- Discount codes are for the Affiliate Partner's audience only - not for personal use
- Commission is always calculated on original price BEFORE discount
- Discount codes may not be combined with other promotional offers
- Company reserves right to modify or deactivate discount codes with 7 days notice
- Affiliate Partner must not publicly share discount codes on coupon/deal websites
without prior approval

VI. TERM AND TERMINATION

Effective Date:
This Agreement becomes effective when the Affiliate Partner is approved and receives their unique referral link.

Duration:
This Agreement continues until terminated by either party.

Termination Rights:
- Either party may terminate with 30 days written notice
- Company may terminate immediately if Affiliate Partner breaches terms
- Affiliate Partner may terminate immediately at any time

Effect of Termination:
Upon termination:
- Affiliate Partner must stop using Company branding and referral links
- Company will pay commission on all completed bookings attributed before termination date
- Tracking cookies set before termination remain valid for their 30-day period
- Affiliate Partner must return or destroy all confidential Company materials

VII. LIABILITY AND WARRANTIES

No Guarantees:
The Company makes no guarantees about:
- Amount of traffic or bookings Affiliate Partner will generate
- Commission amounts or earnings potential
- Availability of specific vehicles or pricing

Limitation of Liability:
Neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from this Agreement. Total liability is limited to commissions earned in the preceding 12 months.

Independent Contractor:
The Affiliate Partner is an independent contractor, not an employee, agent, or representative of the Company. Affiliate Partner is responsible for their own taxes and has no authority to bind the Company to any agreement.

VIII. CONFIDENTIALITY

Both parties agree to keep confidential any non-public information shared during
the partnership, including:
- Commission rates and payment terms
- Customer information (names, emails, booking details)
- Proprietary marketing materials or strategies
- Financial data

This obligation continues for 2 years after Agreement termination.

IX. MODIFICATIONS

The Company reserves the right to modify these Terms with 30 days notice. Continued participation in the program after notice period constitutes acceptance of new terms.

Notification of changes will be sent to Affiliate Partner's registered email address.

X. GENERAL PROVISIONS

Governing Law:
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Iceland.

Entire Agreement:
This document constitutes the entire agreement between parties and supersedes all prior communications.

Severability:
If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

No Assignment:
Neither party may assign this Agreement without written consent of the other party.
